A convention of buyers

When the Village at Abacoa was converted from apartments to condominiums in March, buyers lined up to buy ... and buy ... and buy.

The 413 units went as fast as the staff of the Jupiter office of Illustrated Properties could process the contracts. After refurbishing and upgrades were completed on the units in June, it was time to close.

Last week, the firm started closing the transactions to transfer title to the new owners. It was not to be the typical one- or two-a-day closings.

Like a well-planned military campaign, Illustrated Properties rented a section of the Palm Beach Convention Center to handle the crowds.

"We closed 74 the first day, 47 the next day and plan an average of 50 a day until completion," said Chappy Adams, president of Illustrated Properties.
